Over Christmas break we cut his hair. After we cut it, I missed it. I liked his shaggy long hair so now we are growing it back out. Luckily his hair grows really fast. I'm just bummed about it.
My little boy has grown so fast and is so big. He doesn't walk anymore. He runs. Everywhere. He will sit on our laps... but only if we are reading him a book. Sweet boy.

This has honestly been the best year for our little family. Even though there are days where I want to play hookie from work to be with my little man, I am still blessed.

- Continue going to the gym weekly (I've lost all my baby weight plus some)

- Help my students score high on their test coming up in March (I really do have the best students)

Today I turned the big 25. I think 21 was better... that's just a fun age. I don't like the idea of getting older and being in my mid 20's. Weird. I feel like a teenager still.

I heart Saturdays. Long Saturdays... not the kind that go too fast. I went to the gym, cleaned out my closet (eliminated and boxed a ton of old clothes... in with the new, out with the old), took Jeremy to the park and Matt found 20 dollars.

P.s. I love my family. We have been blessed so much with year: a new house, a baby boy, a good job & Matt is a graduate. Life is good and I'm enjoying what I have.

Yesterday was Matt's graduation. Technically he graduated this last summer but he was late on turning in his paperwork. I am so proud of him! Congrats husband!

On to medical school... he has been studying like a mad man for his MCAT. I feel for him.
We applied to three schools... so we will see what happens.

This weekend we listened to Christmas music, did a little Christmas shopping (realized we are now broke for the month of December), cleaned our house, played on the Ipad (I love it more and more), studied a little and I made origami frogs (for my lesson plan tomorrow... functional text).

Three weeks until Christmas break. Let the countdown begin.

P.s. Isn't that hat a trip? It doesn't even fit his head! It sure is cute though.

On black friday, Matt bought me an Ipad for my birthday/christmas. I have the best husband. I've been playing on my Aunt's Ipad all week and I just love it. It's fun and overall, addicting. Mom decided to buy one too on black friday. You can imagine how insane my brothers were going over these purchases (have devoted to PC, the other Mac).

I've had my apple since 2005 and I will never switch. Apple products are just so much better.

Now the hunt begins for cases. I want a leather case for more protection (preferably italian leather). I've never known the difference between certain kinds of leather but I would have to say that Italian Leather is the best. I love how soft it is. I have a small italian leather sleeve for my ipod and I love it. I wouldn't mind a bigger version of one for my ipad. The only problem, it can be pricy. This case that I am in love with is a little too much ($100). This one may have to wait for a long time.... unless any of you can find me a real italian leather case for a good price ;)

Why am I up so early? My brother called to see if I wanted a garage opener for $100 at 4a.m. this morning (our garage didn't come with one). So I was up. Then the online black friday shopping began. I prefer online over waiting in lines for hours.

I love Sundays where I get to spend them with my family. If only they lasted longer. Luckily we have a three day weekend coming up.

I like going to church but it's hard bringing Jeremy because he is so squirmy. I think they need to change my calling in church. Currently I'm the one who has to play the piano in Relief Society. Yesterday I escaped because Matt wanted me to take care of Jeremy. The Primary President caught me (she's my visiting teacher) and asked me to sit in a primary room to make sure they kids were okay. I brought Jeremy and he sat so still on my lap. I was completely shocked. He was just involved with the singing and was consumed in it. As soon as he saw the kids standing, he wanted to stand... by himself. Jeremy loves kids.

Also in church there is a little girl who is a little older than him but she can walk. He would not stop staring at her. He kept grabbing her hand. Yeah, our son definitely is Matt's. I decided that Jeremy needs more play dates. I hate that my college friends who have babies are spread all over the U.S. I wish I could just group them all in our city! Sometimes I miss Rexburg... but only for that reason.

On a side note, I also have my evaluation tomorrow at work. Not really looking forward to it. Nobody likes to be evaluated at work. Yuck, wish me luck.

This morning I made apple spice bread and starbucks hot cocoa. I also put up my mini Christmas tree and wreath. I'm one of those people who think Christmas should be two months long. It's November and it's time. I still celebrate Thanksgiving, but why not celebrate Christmas too? Nothing wrong with it.

Matt is going to come in and frown at my Christmas tree. I just know it.

Yesterday I took Jeremy to the pumpkin patch in Glendale. He didn't like the goats, chickens or pumpkins. He liked the hay. The hay that he wouldn't stop eating. Oh well, he's still cute in my book.

We carved pumpkins last night. Jeremy would not let me put him down. He wanted to be held and when I tried to have him play with the pumpkin, he screamed. He is scared of the inside of pumpkins. I had to put the pumpkin insides on my fingers before he would even touch it.

After, he got a bath. This is what bath night consists of every night. A naked boy waiting patiently for the tub to fill up.

*side note: Jeremy woke up with a huge bug bite on his cheek. Poor little boy.

I love fall. I love sweaters. One thing that I don't like is super hot weather. I guess I moved to the wrong state... maybe I should move to San Francisco (the one city I would move to in a heartbeat).

You know what else I love right now? Target. Target has the cutest sweaters and boy shirts. About 50% of our clothes in our family pictures are from Target. Nice job.

These are the lately family photos we took (one of these will be on our Christmas card this year... hint... no pumpkins). Jeremy looked so adorable in his little shirt and sweater. I love sweaters on little boys. Don't worry mothers, you don't have to be scarred by ugly little boy clothes which consist of trucks, monkeys and bears. You just have to search... really hard.

I'm basically having horrible separation anxiety right now. The last few days I've been having nightmares of going back to work and my little boy forgetting me. He's been so clingy that I love it. He always wants me to hold him and I think it's his secret way of saying, "Don't leave me!" which breaks my little heart.

Now I just need to start a countdown for Thanksgiving and Christmas break. You can never have enough countdowns.

Teaching really is the best career choice. I can't imagine being a mom and working all year round. I love spending my summers and breaks with my little family. They just go too fast.

I love this month... besides the fact that it's 90 degrees. It's just wrong for it to be in the 90s in October. It was cool last week and not it's hot again. It was too good to be true. I love this week and the fact that I have it off. I actually got my house clean and the baby is still napping (a little too long of a nap). I put him down at 9 and it's noon. This is going to screw up his afternoon nap.

I took Jeremy to the doctor yesterday and he's in the 97 percentile for height and 75 percentile for weight. I had to take the little boy shopping because he had outgrown all his 12-month clothes.

Lately he has been laughing out loud... a lot. We love him and I am so glad that I get to see my little boy. These are the perks of being a teacher. You get week long breaks and a summer :)

jenny lind high chair

I've been on the hunt for the perfect high chair. Highchairs are so ugly nowadays and I wanted a wood one.
They don't make Jenny Lind high chairs anymore and they are impossible to find. Craigslist. This one was posted for one day and I bought it right away for a steal. It's in great shape and goes with our kitchen. I just need to replace the straps (I cut them off... they were stained) and make a tie cushion.

Here is the question... should I paint it or leave it white?

I've seen so many jenny lind high chairs that were painted awesome colors: yellow, light turquoise, red and green. My kitchen is a light green (I'm tempted to repaint it the same color as the living room... don't tell matt). Should I paint it? If I'm leaving it white, I would just have some touchups.

Matt hates halloween. No idea why. He is a Scrooge that hates every single holiday. He will deny it when I call him Scrooge... but then he does Scrooge things: A. Halloween candy should not be given out to random kids. B. Christmas trees and decorations are stupid. C. Lights outside? How trashy. D. The list goes on.

I'm still training him and fighting him this year for Christmas (I want Matt to dress up as Santa for Jeremy). Not sure if that's going to happy but what are wives for? To nag their husbands to dress up as Santa.

Here is a peek at Jeremy's Halloween costume. He has a bunch of Halloween PJ's too. I'm tempted to get him more Halloween costumes. Why can't a kid dress up for Halloween everyday? It's perfectly normal for a baby and cute. Now if an adult dresses up for Halloween, it would be socially unacceptable. Guess I can't wear my Dorothy costume to work. Tear.

My favorite part of the day is when everything is quiet in the house. Baby is asleep. Husband is asleep. TV is off. Phone is not ringing. It's nice to just sit and have time to just relax and take a breath.

Jeremy crawling and will soon be walking. He is already trying by holding furniture to help him. I hate the tile in our house because he crawls on it and then smacks his face on it. We bought a rug padding so it won't be as hard when he falls. I don't get why houses even have tile outside of the bathroom. Florida had tile and Arizona has tile. Whatever happened to wood floors? They worked in the past. My next house will have wood floors. That is my next request on a house.

Fall is coming. Temperature is slowly going down and soon I will realize why I moved to Arizona in the first place: Amazing winters. I'm already looking at Craigslist to buy a bike. Jeremy and I will take many bike rides this winter.

After a night having a dream that I thought I was in heaven but it was actually hell, I think I have discovered where I carry all my stress. I'll explain:

Number uno: Let's go back to my dream because I am a strong believer that dreams have meanings. I was dying. My family didn't care and they said, "Well, good luck. We will see you when we die." I traveled through this tube and made it to what I thought was heaven. It looked like a multi-story call center but everyone was taking test. Seventh grade reading AIMS tests. My principal said, "Katelyn, have a seat a take your test. When you are done, Justin (who is known for really good test talks at work) will do a test talk." This is heaven?! I was pist. I then realized that for eternity, I would take AIMS tests. When I woke up, I realized that I was really in hell. Foreshadowing? Lesson of the story, I better be good or I will be damned for eternity to taking AIMS tests. No, I probably think I'm in hell at work because of the pressure with testing on teachers & kids.

Number dos: I play the piano in church. For those who have to listen to me, I extremely apologize. The only reason I got suckered into this calling was because I used my "talent" (and yes, talent gets quotes) to get out of speaking in church. It's called negotiation. For those who are not smart enough to figure it out (or dumb in my case) you can negotiate church callings and talks. Because of my wonderful "talent" I got called to play in R.S. Lame. For my defense, I liked my calling in Primary because little kids don't even know what wrong notes you hit and you can be sneaky but just playing the right hand. Easy right? Now I actually have to practice. Who has time?

Number tres (tres is three right? I flunked Spanish): Will hire someone to do my laundry for the rest of my life.

Number four (I give up on Spanish): Jeremy is crawling and teething. Teething = no sleep for mom. Crawling = a lot of chasing for mom.

Well, we survived Monday. Today was just one of those days - long and brutal. Of course Jeremy immediately cheered me up with his crawling and our long serious talks. He tells me so many things.

I love mornings with Jeremy. I hear him start talking to himself in the crib and then when I go in to check on him, he has the biggest grin. He's the happiest boy. Before I had Jeremy I was terrified to even hold babies because they would just cry. I was nervous because I wondered if Jeremy would hate me. Nope. He just wants his mom and gets the biggest grin. I hope the rest of our kids turn out like Jeremy. The expectation and the bar is set high.

Sorry future kids. No grumpiness in this family.

I love three day weekends. I love three day weekends. I love three day weekends. I vote that every weekend is a three day weekend. Friday we drove down to LA, California. Saturday was spent at Disneyland and Sunday was spent relaxing and trying to find a parking spot at the beach (which was very unsuccessful). Nevertheless, it was a great weekend and makes me want to move out to California some day(minus the monstrous gas prices and living expenses).

Arizona, be more like CA and give us grass and trees. I'm sick of cactus and rocks (mainly because I hate shoes).

I love when my little boy sleeps. Lately he's been sleeping with his legs in the air against the crib. I love my boy. Yes, babies do sleep through the night. Jeremy is living proof every since he was six weeks old. We are blessed to have this little guy in our lives.

I finally have my classroom set up and the first week all planned out. We have a brand new school and my door actually closes this year. That alone makes me happy.

Meet the teacher night was last night. I was able to meet lots of my students and I can already tell we are going to have a great year. I have heard really good things about this group coming up. It was fun to see my seventh graders from last year. When did they start getting so tall?! Can I brag for a minute? My kids scored an 87% Meets and Exceeds on the AIMS reading last year (Highest in the school - tied with 6th grade). Yup, I have the best kids :)

Then again, I'm just happy I have a door that closes (yes that deserves to be mentioned twice), a clean smelling room and desks that work.

Plus, my husband bought me a mini refrigerator. Isn't he sweet?

Here are a few photos from Kansas City two weeks ago.

I start work tomorrow. How did this summer go so fast?! I might cry in the car on the way to work from missing my boy. We had such a good routine and bonding experience together.

Last week Jeremy turned six months. Seriously, how did my little boy get to be so big and start crawling?!

"Screen captures" are simply the best.

I've been on the hunt for a new lesson planner. The current ones they have out are pretty dated and the layouts are horrible. While browsing, I found this cute owl planner. They are made by Erin Condren and they are pretty pricey ($50). I wasn't going to get one but then I found a groupon that made it $20.

Whoever is in charge of designing lesson planners they need to update them.

Last night we went to a school event. I'm feeling so much anxiety leaving my boy while I go back to work.

I vote summers be twice as long. I swear, summers used to be longer when I was a kid. What happened?!

We are going back to Arizona this afternoon from Kansas City. Being in Kansas has been a sweet and bitter time. Sweet because we got to spend lots of time with our family. Bitter because we have to leave. I miss Kansas City because it's home. Maybe one day we will make our way to Kansas City for good.

Why do trips have to go really fast but waiting for them drag? I will ask this question also about the school year and waiting for summer. I can't really complain because I really do have the best job. Plus I must be really awesome because my kids from last year keep trying to add me on facebook.

In two weeks, I have to return back to school to teach for another year. I have severe anxiety right now because I don't want to leave my little boy. We have just grown to love him more and more since we met him. I hated being pregnant and would curse him for digging his feet in my ribs, giving me back labor and heartburn. After having Jeremy in our lives I can say that it was worth it. I couldn't ask for the sweetest boy.

We made it to Kansas after a very long, delayed flight. Jeremy had a hard time falling asleep on the plane because he wouldn't stop laughing and talking to the other passengers. We finally made him fall asleep on the plane. It's nice because nobody wants to sit next to a baby so we got an extra seat just for him. This morning he passed out because he was so tired.

Today Jeremy met his cousin Sweet and Falcon (I don't have any photos of Sweet smiling because she was grumpy from her nap. I will get some soon). Jeremy and Falcon are one week apart. They met this morning and instantly became friends. Yes, babies can become friends. Jeremy slapped Falcon in the forehead and Falcon pulled his hair. They then started wrestling (while smiling). They are already buddies.

I hope everyone has a happy fourth of July! I will be spending it with my beautiful family BBQing by the pool. We killed the wasps two days ago and they haven't been back since. Freedom.

Yesterday we went to to some honky cowboy bar in Cave Creek. It reminded me of "The Cowboy Bar" in Jackson Hole when I went with my ladies. They had an awesome fireworks display.

On very rare days, I miss Idaho. Mostly on the fourth of July because it consisted of BBQing with friends, Lava pool and fireworks in I.F. Maybe I just miss college. It goes too fast.

Poor little boy has already popped two little bottom teeth. He has been crabby the last few weeks because he's in so much pain. I've been giving him lots of naps so he can sleep through it.

On a side note, I was lounging by my pool and all of a sudden three yellow wasps come and start drinking my pool water. They were too close for comfort and I ended up running away. I really could use Billy the Exterminator right now. They currently found residence in our cement wall fence. This is not going to fly.

five months + soda

Jeremy turned five months today. Of course I had to post photos of him sleeping since this is a rare occasion. My days consist of battling him to take a nap because he wants to play (while rubbing his eyes from being exhausted).

Milestones:
- He walks all over the house (in his walker)
- He plays with his toes
- He just got his first two teeth this week (very grumpy and painful)
- He laughs uncontrollably... at nothing... I think he takes more after me

My only wish is that he will stay this size forever. Slow down baby boy.

Now for post #2.... soda.
I joined a gym a month ago and have been going 3-4 times a week. I am determined to lose the baby weight + a little extra. I am very proud of myself because I already lost five pounds (and keeping it off). Now my downfall... soda. I drink way too much soda. I crave soda. I was doing really well not drinking it too much this summer and then Fry's had to have a sale on my favorite kind.. cream soda. I bought some... and after one glass I feel terrible. So... I'm cutting back on the soda. I obviously can't go cold (like Nicole who didn't drink coke for a year... Nicole... how did you do this?! Let me in on the secret) so maybe one glass every month? Or not. I honestly have no will power so I have to take baby steps. If I cut back on soda, is it possible to go down a size? I just need ten pounds and I will be where I want (every woman's dream).

So, can soda make you lose weight? Any success stories?

To begin... I had to post pictures of my kitchen because it's clean and it will not stay this way. I might as well take a picture.

I love summer vacation. I will probably bawl my little eyes out when I have to leave my sweet little boy. It has been so much fun being with him all day, every single day. I have been pretty busy crocheting and decorating my house. Being a stay at home mom has its perks and I can understand why every mom likes to stay home. Matt probably doesn't like it because I shop way too much (aka... the new rug in my kitchen... I really want the giant size for my living room).

So I've been making a bunch of these crochet squares (and flowers for my vase... I kill real ones) because I'm now on a mission to make a giant blanket. I love blankets... even in 100 degree weather. I HAVE to always have a blanket when watching TV.

Jeremy is starting to get a tooth. Yesterday he just wanted to be held (making it difficult to put my classroom together) because he was in a lot of pain. At night, he wouldn't stop crying. I feel so bad for him. You can see his tooth starting to pop through. It's just a small white circle right now.

And they don't sell teething tablets anymore. Lame.

Jeremy's personality is becoming more defined. He turns 5 months in a few weeks. Today it took him two hours to get him to take a nap because he was having a laughing attack. Of course it probably didn't help that mommy decided to make him giggle even more when she tickled his back and smothered him with kisses.

Our boy has the best personality. He is the happiest baby boy I could ever have. It's funny because I can't imagine like without him. It would be so empty. He refuses to sit down and wants to stand. He also hates laying on his back.
Matt always says. "Wrestles don't lay on their backs."
Maybe we will have a little wrestler in our family. Lately I have been feeling his little teeth start to poke through. I knew it was teething time when Jeremy rolled over and tried to eat my ankle.

p.s. did I mention I have a court date tomorrow? My license is suspended. A month ago I received a speeding ticket. I also could not find my insurance card in my car (yes, I have insurance). The police officer said I have three options: pay the ticket, go to driving school or go to court. I chose driving school so it wouldn't make my insurance go up. After I completed driving school I contacted them and asked if I was clear. They said yes. Friday, I received a letter in the mail telling me my license has been suspended and if I want it to be reinstated I have to pay $1000.00 all because I missed court. I called the court and told them I completed driving school. The operator told me that I had to go to court because I didn't have insurance. Obviously if I knew I had to go to court in addition, I would have. So, tomorrow I am going to court to get this taken care of. I spoke to my brother's friend who is a lawyer and she said it shouldn't be hard to take care of. I just hope it can be taken care of fast because I hate having a suspended license and a $1000 fee hanging over my head.

In other words, what a crap way to start a weekend.

The pool was a mess when we bought it. The pump wasn't working at all so the pool quickly turned green. We hired a pool guy to get the pump and filter fixed so now we have a beautiful blue pool.

Next thing on our list is the house trim. Matt's brother scraped it off and now we have to paint.

The house is coming together. Lately, we've been working on the backyard. Can I just say that yard work is the worst. I'm not a fan. I am determined to fill the backyard with pretty pink flowers that survive during the summer. Matt likes cactus. Oh, how we are different sometimes.... but it's okay, I still love him.

Jeremy turned four months old yesterday. I looked at his newborn pictures and it's amazing to see how much he has changed. He just gets cuter each day.

I wish my house looked like this right now - where clutter actually looked good.

My house is a wreck and Jeremy has been fussy all day. It all started with a bottle and rice cereal. He hates rice cereal. Whenever I try to give it to him, he screams. This morning I tried to feed him oatmeal. He cried and frowned. I then made him a bottle and added a teaspoon of oatmeal to his formula. He screamed. After I dumped his "contaminated" bottle, I made him a new one. He screamed again... thinking it was the same one. So, I made another bottle. He chugged it and passed out. Now he's waking up and I haven't even gotten around to my kitchen.

Fussy kid today, but he's still perfect.

Yesterday when I went to my favorite store JCrew, I was checking out and I saw this gem: bright red nail polish. How can you say "no" to bright red nail polish especially in the summer? So, last night I painted my toes bright red. Then I was looking at my fingernails and I realized it would look ridiculous if I painted them a bright color because they are super short. Yes, I am a horrible nail bitter. It's a disgusting habit that doesn't make my germ-phobia any better.

So... new goal: stop bitting the nails so I can paint them this color.

I think this goal is doable because tomorrow is officially the last day (and it's a half day).

I love projects. When Jeremy was born I crocheted a blanket for him. It was easy and just overall relaxing. So, that's what I'm going to do this summer, except I'm crocheting a throw for my living room. I've been thinking about this for awhile now and I've been trying to figure out what pattern I should do (I want a challenge, not just stripes). Then I saw this quirky throw at Anthropologie and I was sold. I am going to make this blanket.

Now obviously it's not going to look exactly because I am a beginning crocheter and I only know about three stitches. I'm still up for the challenge. The dimensions are 60'' L and 50'' W. This will probably take me all summer to do. It'll be fun to do in my spare time when the baby is napping and I'm watching TV. Oh, I love summer.

Speaking of summer, 9 1/2 days left. I'm not counting down.

I really think I have issues. I am obsessed with reading. At night while I'm reading my husband yells at me to turn the light off. I guess my career is perfect for me. I love being a language arts teacher and teaching my kids to love books too (sometimes it's challenging...).

I bought an ipod touch and let me say how big of a pain it is to read on one of those. It hurts my eyes. I gave up reading on it because I just like having a book in my hands. I can never give up my books.

I just invested in some beautiful new classics. I'm going to start collecting these gems. I am giddy and excited to get these amazing book (see above). I can already picture my summer. Laying by the pool reading these classics while my sweet Jeremy is sleeping. I'll also add that I'm not exaggerating. I have the easiest baby in the world. The only time he gets fussy is at night when he's A) hungry and B) tired.

jeremy is three months old... and it's easter

Today Jeremy is three months old. I cannot believe how big he is getting. We bought him a cute easter outfit and as you can see in the picture it fits perfect. It will probably last a few weeks. That is a six month old outfit. He's just really tall. He's in the 85th percentile for height. Keep growing Jeremy. We have big plans for you. You will play in the NBA and I will travel with you in my bedazzled jersey.

Month three:
- He squeaks and yells when he wants people to play with him
- He can almost roll over
- He sleeps throughout the night. Yes, it's possible for newborns to be trains. (8-6:30a.m.)
- He eats his hands
- He smiles ALL the time

We just love him.

Last night was the first night he slept in the crib. It was probably a very wise choice because his bassinet collapsed with him in it. Not that he's obese or anything... the bassinet is just temperamental. Matt heard it crash yesterday and jumped out of bed seeing the bassinet tilting with him inside. Jeremy wasn't screaming or crying. He's such a good baby.

Yesterday my kids started the AIMS. I cannot wait for it to be over. By the time the kids are done testing they are just burned out. It was a nightmare. I understand they were tired, but I came home with the biggest headache that two Advil's did not cure. I think my kids will do really well on it because we've been practicing questions all year. They deserve it.

My honors class flipped out because I told them in a week we are starting a research paper and a literary analysis. Obviously, you are not suppose to write in language arts class ;)

Student: "We write and read too much in the class..."

Me: "What is language arts?"

Student: "Reading and writing... oh."

My day at work sucked... I am my worst critic and need to ease up on myself. Plus, I need to find a way to get my students motivated for testing. I love testing season (can you imagine my sarcastic tone right now). For teachers out there, any ideas?

I was feeling so crappy from today because someone ate my lunch (I know random... who eats other people's lunches?), I had the worst headache (lack of sleep and no food?) and my students are getting burned out (need ideas to get them motivated again).

Luckily tomorrow is a new day and will be better.

On a happier note, I came home and had the best evening because we made bank on our tax return, I got an Ipod touch and my boy will not stop smiling. Just seeing my boy made my day. This morning he was snuggling with me and I just about cried from leaving him to go to work. He's already learning to drop kick... he kicked me in the face when I got home from joy (feeding him his crappy formula). I love my son... he is definitely Matt's boy.

Since our new house my husband has been annoyed with my sense of "decorating" because it always trumps his side projects. The other day I made Matt stop what he was doing so he could hang a picture on the wall. I justified it as, "I'm getting rid of the clutter on the ground..." since frames have technically been taking over our floor. I'm very excited for this summer because while Matt is working and in school, it's my vacation so... I get to do whatever to the house while he's gone. It's such an evil plan and I'm looking forward to it.

One of my plans is making this pillow, minus the black color. I'm thinking white.

Jeremy turned two months old on March 24th. He's getting so big.

I already missed two days of my blog challenge. When it came down to it, I didn't really have anything to write about those topics. So, I quit. I will just make up my own blog challenge and just write when I have the time and want to. Plus, my topics are much better ;)

Right now I have a little boy in striped green and brown monkey pajamas who is taking over my bed. I woke up early this morning to him squeaking. I fed him and set him down in the middle of us and after two minutes his arms are sprawled out passed out.
All these moms' keep telling me, "Be careful, you need to train him so he doesn't want to only sleep in your bed."
I don't care because I love having my little boy sleep in my bed. The weekend is the only time I really get to spend lots of time with him so I'll take every opportunity that comes.

Day four: My best friend is my husband. This is my favorite photo of Matt because it shows how much he loves his little boy. I still look at this photo and can't believe how small Jeremy was and how much he's growing. Breaks my little heart because I want him to stay this size forever.

This is my second best friend. She's the real reason why I married Matt (well... maybe not the ultimate reason but she played a huge role in us dating because she introduced us). I knew Tiffany since I was three years old. We use to play with my fisher price kitchen set and put real cheese in the fake refrigerator. I remember my mom finding dried up cheese in it. One time when she came over my mom just cleaned my room... when Tiffany left, my mom walked in my room and found it trashed and the fisher price tent was on the ceiling fan. We always had a good time :)

Since we are strolling down memory lane with Tiffany - My favorite memories involve riding our bikes all over Overland Park, making movies and Tiffany's brother saying if we wanted a ride home I had to hug his friend... which I refused and Tiffany kept saying, "I will hug him, he's hot." We walked home. Still laugh about it sometimes.

Yesterday I found my boys like this.

We spent all week (Spring Break) getting out house finished. We still have a long ways to go (don't mind the mess. I will post nicer ones of the entire house tomorrow). We bought this entertainment unit that was an oak color. It wasn't fitting in our room so I painted it white. Then today I decided that I needed to change the boards of the entertainment unit and also buy diamond shape knobs. Amazing what a little paint, boards and knobs can do. I wish I had a before photo but I don't so that will have to due. We need to screw in the shelf in the middle of the unit where the TV is going to sit. For now, it's just going to chill on the ground. Edee (Matt's mom) likes my photo display on my wall. I got everything from Ikea. Lamp is from Hobby Lobby, rug from HomeGoods and pillows from Kirkland. Oh yes, and my flowers and vase are from Hobby Lobby. I had to go with Peonies and Ranunculus (my favorite). I also bought some vintage bottles (green and clear) to go in my kitchen but I'm thinking about putting them in the entertainment center. Im still playing around with it.

BABY NOTE

I love all this free time. Today I lounged with my Jeremy while he slept for 4 hours on me. I am taking full advantage because I know when he starts walking it's going to be less snuggle time.

HOUSE NOTE

The house project still going. We put in a new garage door to our house - they had a doggy door. We are also putting in new doors to our bathroom and closet. Lots of updates to this place. So far we finished the pool, lights and part of the yard (front and back). More on our "to-do" list involves painting the outside trim, finishing the doors, cutting down a huge tree in the back, pulling up the weeds and minor replacements (we always find stuff that needs updating).

KATE NOTE

I have decided that I'm going to reward myself in the summer by getting the Ipad. It will be a nice present to myself when I get my tax refund. Now I'm just debating between what size (32 or 64). I was thinking about getting a new laptop but after much thought, my laptop is still good. Macs are just the way to go and I will never switch. Plus, I have to get Matt a new Mac this summer because he's had his for almost 4 years. It's time for an update.

That is all for now. Until I buy my Ipad, I'm on Scrabble depression because Matt won't let me play on his Ipod. He has the idea that I will ruin his score (doesn't he trust me? I am an English teacher after all).

I'm debating between these two purchases. Either way, I'm planning on using them for my teaching. I'm leaning more towards the IPAD because I can use it for iannotate when I grade students papers. I also like the idea of storing books on it and not having to squint like an Ipod Touch. I like the Ipod Touch because it 's convenient in size (obviously not good for reading). This is going to be my summer purchase so I have plenty of time to figure this one out. Any ideas?

Yesterday we had Jeremy's baby blessing. For those who aren't sure what that is, we do it in our church where we bless newborns with a name, promises and blessings. It's a very special experience. They usually do it in church but we decided to do it in our house with family and close friends.

Afterwards Jeremy stripped down to his bow tie. My child is already classy.

I love spring and everything about it. This morning I felt like I was in a Disney movie because I woke up to birds chirping. We love our house and it's starting to feel more like home every day. We finally cleaned out the pool and it's ready to be used (2 weeks before its officially pool season). I will post photos of the house when it's completely finished.

P.S... Spring break is the best compared to Christmas because I get a week off.

Didn't I just get maternity leave too a week ago? I time things just right.

Anyone else mad that Glee hasn't been on TV nor will be until two weeks.

Lame.

We are almost done with the house. We painted every single room. It needed it bad because it was dark brown. If you need a refresher you can see the cave here. I have no idea why they painted the ceilings (and light sockets). It took a lot of work to get this place in shape.

If you would like to see my inspiration (still have a long way to go) you can go here. If you look at the first right photo you will see a lovely light green kitchen. We painted our kitchen a similar color and our living room a lighter shade of that color. We are going with neutral light tones. My kitchen cabinets aren't white (yet) because I'm going to redo them in the summer when I actually have the time off (I love being a teacher).

We still have a lot of work before it's complete. Of course a house isn't fun if you do it all at once so we are doing one project at a time.

Our wish list:

- New doors

- New lights

- New dishwasher and stove

- Backyard (take out dead trees and put in a lemon and lime tree)

It's a small house but we love it and can't wait to grow in it. We are even thinking about just hanging onto the property and using it as a rental when we move to a bigger house in the future. But for now, it's perfect :)

Currently I have my boy sitting next to me with his little feet resting on my arm. He is so little and fragile that I'm overprotected, even more gentle and I always have to be holding him. I held him all day because every time I set him down he started to cry. He just wanted to snuggle the entire day. I should be sick of it but I'm not. I'm perfectly content holding him every second of the day. I have been treasuring every moment I have because I know it's going to be short-lived. I will probably bawl on my way to work every day.

Jeremy turned one month today. I can't believe he is getting so big. That is a 3-month old onesie and 3-6 month pants. He is in the 85th percentile for height. Come on Jeremy... get growing so you can play for the Celtics or Suns. We have big dreams for you. Last night Jeremy wanted to celebrate his birthday by doing something special for his dad. Poop on him. It was his first explosion (well, little explosion). Matt had two little poop spots on his shirt. It was such a nice little gift. I love this little guy.

This morning, he wanted to continue his mini-birthday celebration by dancing the "A Goofy Movie" theme song. I tried to get it on video but he stopped dancing. He was probably ashamed.

Today he is rocking a mohawk. He has tons of hair. No idea where he got it because Matt and me were completely bald when we were his age.

Yesterday I went to sign my teaching contract for next year. I may be teaching 7th and 8th grade... or just 7th grade. I don't know... they are doing some changes I guess. I'm really glad I didn't bring Jeremy because he has his cold still. I went to see the middle school team and all my students ran up to me asking when I'm coming back and where the baby was. Can't I make my maternity leave until May??? I go back in one week. It's going to be very hard to leave this little guy. Luckily when I go back, the following week is spring break. I just time things just right.

On another note, we finally got the house. We have been busy painting it all week. It looks completely different. The living room is a pale pistachio color (greyish green), the kitchen is a light green, master room is a light grey and Jeremy's room is "sea salt blue" (greyish blue). We are going to finish the touchups, baseboards and possible cabinets today. Tomorrow we are planning on cleaning the tile and Saturday is move-in day. Can't wait to finally get settled in.

I have a sick little boy today. Yesterday he came down with a nasty cold - runny nose, coughing and sneezing. We have been pretty strict about who he comes in contact with. Saturday we painted our house/had the attic guy come do repairs and we had the boy with us. There were too many people in the house helping and it was just chaos so I took him home. I'm thinking that's where he picked up his cold. He had too many people hovering over him. So today I'm taking him to the doctor. It breaks my little heart every time he coughs because he cries right after. His cries aren't piercing - they are just sad. I was going to sign my teaching contract today for next year but I decided to postpone it until tomorrow because I don't want to take him with me if he's sick. So Matt is going to watch him while I take care of that.

I love how involved Matt is. He is very overprotected and I love it. I've also noticed he talks to Jeremy different and I love it. Jeremy and Matt are inseparable. Jeremy just stares at Matt and constantly wants to be held by him.

Jeremy is basically his mini-me.

- He jumps in his sleep like Matt
